A blood drive was held in conjunction
with the San Bernardino/Riverside Blood
Bank in which over 138 pints of blood
were collected. Many residents wanted
to donate in the wake of Hurricane
Katrina, with a record 114 new people
donating.

The highlight of the event was a
medico-spiritual conference, which
encouraged health professionals to
foster ethical and spiritual values
while practicing medicine. Sadhu
Gnanvatsaldas also addressed the
delegates on the importance of being
well trained in their profession and
also being a dignified human being.

Visitors walked through a colorful
exhibit on India, Hindu culture and
tradition, which provided further
insight into the philosophical
significance of the groundbreaking
ceremonies.

The evening concluded with a spiritual
musical concert, known as a kirtan
aradhana. Devotional hymns were
accompanied by classical Indian
instruments. The evening finished with
a prayer for the victims and their
families of last week's tragic
hurricane.
