Gathering to celebrate the kick-off of the first phase of the Chino Hills Mandir and Cultural Center.
January 29, 2006

It couldn't have been planned any better...a beautiful Sunday morning awaited for the well wishers at the future site of the Chino Hills Hindu Mandir and Cultural Center. This was an important day for the BAPS group and followers to kick-off the first phase of the construction - demolition and site clearing. This phase will consist of clearing the 20-acre site in preparation for the grading and paving of the land. Those who came had much to rejoice and much to be proud of. They were part of history in the making. Saints of the BAPS Mandir led the group in chanting the Vedic verses, followed by a ceremonial pujan (rituals) of the construction equipment, which will be used for the demolition.

During the event, Suru Manek, President of the Southern California Lohana Community exclaimed, "It's amazing that this whole project is being conducted exclusively by the help and support of volunteers."

At the closing of the event, Mr. Zala, Director of BAPS-West thanked everyone that came for their hard work and dedication.

Projects like this don't just happen because the money is there; they are born out of need and of desire for a better life for our children and our future generations. As we count down the months before the grand opening of the BAPS Chino Hills Cultural Complex, the community feels an ever increasing sense of excitement and admiration at the wonder and future benefits that this project will bring to our society.
